Editorial Policy
Standards for sourcing, specification auditing, and error corrections.
Source Standards & Spec Research
AltMode Index relies exclusively on documentary evidence and specification research. We analyze manufacturer datasheets, regulatory disclosures, user documentation, and verified retail packaging manifests. Because merchant marketing often obscures cabling requirements or calculates brightness under non-standard conditions, we cross-reference multiple vendor sources to identify discrepancies.
Nomenclature Rule: All numeric metrics (nits, grams, milliwatts) are labelled as “Manufacturer Rated” or “Listing Disclosed.” We never present unverified merchant claims as measured facts.
Prohibited Editorial Claims
- No Invented Lab Testing: We never claim to operate optical cleanrooms, spectrophotometer benches, or physical tear-down labs.
- No Synthetic Benchmark Badges: We do not publish proprietary performance badges or pseudo-scientific scores derived from simulated tests.
- No Guaranteed Hardware Compatibility: Because host laptops vary in port generation and power ceilings, we never guarantee universal single-cable operation without caveats.
Corrections Standard
Hardware revisions frequently change bundled accessories, panel revisions, or firmware compatibility without new model numbers. When an error is identified or a manufacturer alters an included cable set, we update the affected page promptly and note the revision to ensure setup accuracy.
